FAQ
What division do 4th graders learn?
Fourth graders find whole-number quotients and remainders with up to four-digit dividends and one-digit divisors, using place value and the relationship between multiplication and division. This is CCSS 4.NBT.6 — usually taught as long division, for example 3,847 ÷ 6 = 641 R 1.
How does long division work?
Long division uses a repeating cycle: divide, multiply, subtract, bring down. You work from the largest place value to the smallest, writing each digit of the quotient above the dividend and carrying down the next digit each time. Any amount left at the end is the remainder.
What is a remainder?
A remainder is the amount left over when a number does not divide evenly — in 3,847 ÷ 6 the quotient is 641 and the remainder is 1, written “641 R 1.” Use the “Exact (no remainder)” option for divisible problems, or “With remainders” to practice the harder, more realistic case.
Are these division worksheets free?
Yes — completely free, no signup, no download limit. Pick your dividend size and remainder option, click Download PDF, and print a fresh randomized worksheet every time.
